It's funny, when I first got into anime and manga, I used to be mad for fanfiction - I read tons of it (mostly Flame of Recca and Final Fantasy ones as the time), hosted it on my FoR site, and even wrote some of my own (My fanfiction.net account still exists even though I literally haven't touched it in years. *laughs*). Oddly enough, the mania for it eventually tapered down until I stopped reading it altogether, and I'm still not quite sure why that happened. Maybe because I found that a lot of stuff I was reading was crap (with huge fandoms like Final Fantasy it's bound to be 90% crap and 10% good stuff, and you have to do a LOT of digging to find the good stuff), or maybe just because I didn't like seeing fic with all sorts of weird pairings I could never agree with (Especially because I wasn't into BL at the time). Or maybe my tastes just changed - I recently redug up an old FoR fic I once really loved, and was pretty horrified to find that it was actually pretty bad. ^_^;; I suppose a gap of about 5 years or more DOES make a huge difference - in fact, I can't quite believe that that's how long I've been avoiding fanfiction. ^_^;;
